It was a great evening organized by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India of India for the Interactive Meeting of Women Directors with MCA Officials on the topic of “Role of Women Directors in Corporate Governance.” This is first of its kind from The Institute of Company Secretaries of India
It was a good learning & insightful as there were diverse participants sharing their experience.

Mr Pradeep B Kulkarni chairman ICSI SIRC started
off with a lighter mood and spoke about importance of Women as Directors &
leaders of the organization. Good humour on why women have to talk twice than men 😊

Mr Mohan Kumar A, Council Member ICSI provided titbits on the new things on companies act and how much it is important for the Directors to ask questions before even providing go ahead for a decision.

Mr. Srikumar B, Registrar of Companies (Tamilnadu, Pondicherry, Andaman & Nichobar) has explained the sacrifice made by the qualified women in upbringing the families and sometimes not able to choose the corporate life.

Ms. Uma Maheswari, Assistant Registrar of Companies asked several questions to understand the pulse and the knowledge of the participants and provided statistics on women completing post-graduation and not taking up a job. Very insightful.

Mr. Saurabh Mishra Company Prosecutor explained the consequences of signing a document / financial statements by directors without reading / understanding. Also, replied promptly to the queries raised by the participants. Very thought provoking.

Jayashree S Iyer, Treasurer ICSI SIRC explained the training and other facilities available to gain knowledge on becoming independent directors and also provided tips to overcome the regular routines and climb up the professional ladder.
