It is that time of the year in Chennai, when lots of media space (across all formats) and mind space is devoted to what is happening in the Bay of Bengal. With unbridled urbanization the order of the day having consumed water bodies, water ways, green cover etc, even moderate rainfalls cause hardship. And there are quite a few occasions, possibly more in the last decade, when the natural abundance has scored more centuries (in millimetres) on a given day than the number of centuries scored by batsmen in a five match test series in Cricket! So now a days any 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 to citizens and various government agencies that have to deal with the resultant situation. Continuation of various measures like deepening, desilting of lakes and waterways, reservoir management, expanding the storm water drain network coverage with higher capacity and proper inter-connectivity etc, should hopefully lead citizens away from the nursery rhyme “Rain Rain Go away”

The human body functions (mostly) like a well-oiled machine, maintaining various parameters and pressures within a specified range. Of these, the flow of blood, when deviating from the normal can turn into a low pressure (hypotension) or high pressure (hypertension). There could be quite a few causative factors for either of these conditions, each having its own methods of dealing with it including life-style changes, medication, food habits etc.

The world of business is fascinatingly different. It is common knowledge that business growth is assessed in the form of a “Sales Pipeline”. If there is ‘low pressure’ in the Sales Pipeline, it causes high pressure in terms of managing the organization, cost structures, people and their morale etc. On the other hand if there is ‘high pressure’ in the Sales Pipeline, still it can cause higher pressure 😊 Reason being the ability to cope up and convert leads as deals, scale the delivery while maintaining the quality of deliverables, ensure compliances are not getting diluted, preserve the organization culture and most importantly balance the people dynamics! A successful entrepreneur is one who is capable of dealing with either of the situations especially deploying that secret of the ancient – equanimity 😊
