History was made on 22nd Sep 2024 at Budapest, Hungary where the 45th edition of the Chess Olympiad was played with Indian teams winning both (2) the Gold (𝐆) medals viz. the Open as well as the Women’s.

The team comprising of 𝐆𝐮𝐤𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐃, 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐡𝐚, 𝐀𝐫𝐣𝐮𝐧 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐢, 𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐬𝐡 𝐆𝐮𝐣𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢, 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐧𝐚 𝐏 swept aside the opposition scoring 21 points (out of a maximum 22) by winning ten and drawing one match, and with a whopping 4 point lead over the silver medallist team USA 👏 In the entire 44 games they played, they just had one loss. The average age of the top three board players (Gukesh, Pragga, Arjun) is just nineteen 😀

The women’s team 𝐃 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐚, 𝐑 𝐕𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢, 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐲𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐮𝐤𝐡, 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐥, 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐝𝐞𝐯 overcame some nervous and nail biting moments, scoring 19 points (out of maximum 22), a clear point ahead of the silver medallist team Kazhakstan, doubling the joy of the nation 👏

Only two nations viz. Russia and China have earlier achieved this double gold in the same edition of Olympiad 💰💰

We are joyous and applaud this magnificent achievement 👏
