I had a great time with my son @ Chepauk Stadium enjoying the hashtag#CSKvsGT match. That took me to the memory lane of my younger days. I used to play street cricket while at home and book cricket at school. Whether we used ATLAS for geography or not, but it really helped in playing the book cricket. We created paper cricket and used hand as bat. We were so innovative in creating different forms of playing cricket. we used to fight, debate as to who performed well; mostly it will end up with Kapil vs Gavaskar. Those days it was seen more of a boyish game, but still my amma did not restrict me to explore that.
After schooling and change of location, Cricket was almost become more of a memory than playing. The bonding again started when my son started learning cricket. I volunteered for personal “pick up and drop” service to the cricket class. Months have passed, years have rolled and finally due to my son’s firm decision in taking me to the stadium to watch his favourite CSK match has been successful.
I realized, nowadays, watching live cricket is very expensive. We innovated various means using which we played cricket, now, marketing team innovates various ways in which they can make money using the brand. He gave me an oversized CSK t-shirt which was mandatorily to be worn to show our support. He said, you will get a whistle free when you enter the stadium. I said nobody will give you anything free. He was more worried about the view of the pitch and how close he can see the players. Actually, he will be happier if he gets the seat in KMK stand or MCC stand. Game was interesting. Stadium was in full vibes and that too when the camera peeped into the glass and show Dhoni in the bigger screen.
Very interesting, was a cute bubbly boy say around 7 yrs of age (hashtag#thalaforareason !), was continuously whistling and waving the CSK flag. Some felt disturbing and some were encouraging him. They were ready to adjust with the decibel created by the media box but wanted to show faces to the young boy. I told him, because of your positive vibe only, today CSK won. He was very happy.
Finally, a hashtag#whistlepodu moment😊when CSK won the match. As a typical management person, I said, good I came and CSK won the match. My son just stared at me and said you are not in your office by the way.
